Nursing
Nursing Programme
Nursing programmes offered under NBTE accreditation, progressing from National Diploma (ND) to Higher National Diploma (HND). HND graduates qualify to sit the NMCN board examination for Registered Nurse (RN) certification.
Basic Nursing (HND)
Higher National Diploma (HND) — 2 Years
A 2-year advanced programme taken after completing the ND. Accredited by NBTE and supervised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). On graduation, students sit the NMCN licensing board examination and, upon passing, are registered as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Entry Requirements
- ND in Basic Nursing Science (minimum Lower Credit — 2.50/5.00 CGPA)
- IT letter or certificate
On Graduation
- HND certificate in Basic Nursing Science (NBTE)
- NMCN board exam eligibility → Registered Nurse (RN)
- Eligible for B.NSc (top-up) degree programmes
Basic Nursing (ND)
National Diploma (ND) — 2 Years
A 2-year foundation programme accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). Open to SSCE/WAEC/NECO holders with the required credits who have sat the JAMB UTME. Graduates earn an ND certificate and may progress directly to the HND programme.
Entry Requirements
- SSCE/WAEC/NECO — minimum 5 credits including English Language & Biology
- JAMB UTME score in relevant subjects (Biology, Chemistry, English)
- Post-UTME / screening exercise
On Graduation
- ND certificate in Basic Nursing Science (NBTE)
- Direct entry into HND Basic Nursing
- Junior nursing support roles while studying
How the Pathway Works
- Sit JAMB UTME and apply for ND Basic Nursing with your SSCE result (5 credits minimum).
- Complete the 2-year ND programme and graduate with an NBTE-accredited National Diploma.
- Proceed to the 2-year HND programme (no fresh JAMB required — ND result is your entry).
- Graduate with an HND certificate, then sit the NMCN board examination.
- Pass the board exam and register with NMCN as a Registered Nurse (RN).
